Disclaimer and privacy

The important small print, written in the same plain English as everything else on this site.

Disclaimer

  • This site is for informational purposes only.
  • It is not intended as financial or investment advice, but simply as a perspective on a sector.
  • The opinions expressed here are my own and do not reflect the views of my employers or the companies I am involved with.
  • The content is not intended to be a substitute for professional advice. Always seek the advice of qualified professionals with any questions you may have regarding any information presented here.
  • I make no representations as to the accuracy, completeness or validity of any information on this site, and will not be liable for any errors, omissions, or any losses, injuries or damages arising from its display or use.

Nothing here is financial advice

This is worth stating separately because it matters. Effortless New Way is written to help people understand a sector, not to tell anyone what to do with their money. Nothing published here is a personal recommendation, and nothing should be read as one.

Where I describe my own holdings or approach, I am describing what I do, not suggesting anyone else should do the same. My circumstances, timescale and tolerance for loss are unlikely to match yours.

Cryptocurrency carries real risk

Digital asset prices are volatile and can fall sharply and without warning. It is entirely possible to lose the full value of an investment. Much of the sector sits outside the protections that apply to regulated investments, which means there may be no compensation scheme and no route to recovery if something goes wrong. Please take qualified advice before investing.

Privacy notice

This site collects as little personal information as it reasonably can. There are only two ways you might give me any.

If you use the contact form

The name, email address and message you submit are sent to my inbox so that I can reply. They are used for that purpose and nothing else. They are not sold, rented or passed to third parties for marketing.

If you subscribe to the newsletter

Newsletter subscriptions are handled through GoDaddy's email marketing service. Your email address is stored there so that Effortless New Way content can be sent to you. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email, and doing so removes you from the list.

How long any of it is kept

Contact form messages stay in my inbox for as long as the conversation is useful, and are deleted when it is not. Newsletter subscriptions last until you unsubscribe, at which point the address is removed from the list.

Who else touches it

The site is hosted by GoDaddy, who therefore handle the messages in transit and the mailbox they land in. Newsletter subscriptions are held in GoDaddy's email marketing system. Nobody else has access, and nothing is passed to third parties for marketing at any point.

Who is responsible

Effortless New Way is run by Paul Fosse, based in Jersey, who decides what is collected here and why. The Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 applies, which closely mirrors the UK and EU rules you may be more familiar with.

Your rights

You can ask what information I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Requests are honoured as promptly as I can manage, and there is no charge. The easiest way to make one is through the contact page.

If you ever feel a request has not been handled properly, you can raise it with the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner. I would rather you came to me first so I can put it right.

Cookies and tracking

The short version

This site sets no cookies of its own, runs no analytics and carries no advertising or tracking scripts. That is why you were not asked to accept anything when you arrived.

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser, usually to remember something about you between visits. There is nothing here that needs to remember anything, so none are set.

Two things are worth mentioning for completeness, because both involve a request leaving your browser to somewhere other than this site.

  • Typefaces. The fonts used here are served by Google Fonts. Loading them means your browser makes a request to Google, which will see your IP address as part of that request. No cookie is set and nothing is stored on this site's behalf. If you would rather that request did not happen at all, the fonts can be served from this site instead. Say the word.
  • The blog. The blog runs on separate software and does set cookies of its own, which is why it asks you to accept or decline them. That notice is not a mistake and is not connected to this part of the site.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Everything here will continue to work normally if you do.

Links to other websites

Some pages link out to other websites, including the businesses featured in the innovation section and sources referenced in articles. Those sites have their own privacy practices and their own content, and I am not responsible for either. A link is not an endorsement of everything a site contains.

Questions about any of this

If something here is unclear, or you would like to know more about how your information is handled, please get in touch. I would rather answer the question than have you wondering.
